Acquaintance with the exposition of the Museum of the World Ocean begins in Kaliningrad on the embankment of Peter the Great. The first exhibit of the museum is the world's largest research vessel Vityaz. Before being written off in 1979, it was the workplace of scientists from 20 countries. Such legendary people as Jacques-Yves Cousteau and Thor Heyerdahl worked here. It is known that Mariana Trench, the deepest in the world, was measured from this vessel.
Submarine «B-413», the length of which is 91 meters, is among the unique exhibits of the Museum of the World Ocean. This is one of the last pre-atomic submarines in the world preserved in an ideal state. The boat was able to stay in the sea with a crew of 80 people up to three months and dive to a depth of 400 meters! Another exhibit is a vessel named after the native of Kaliningrad cosmonaut Viktor Patsayev. This is the only space communication vessel in the world on which tourists can climb! It is still in touch with the International Space Station. The trawler- museum "SRT-129" with an exhibition on Russian fishing is also noteworthy. The ship was built at a German shipyard and transferred to the USSR as a reparation account. In the main building of the Museum of the World Ocean there are 14 marine and freshwater aquariums with fish, mollusks, corals. From the lighthouse there is a beautiful view of the embankment and the Cathedral. In the exposition "Depth" the giant skeleton of the sperm- whale and the deep-sea apparatus "Mir-1" are interesting. Port warehouses of the XIX century were preserved on the territory of the museum. Now they house a restored ship of the XIX century and the exhibition hall Pakgaus.
