The main Catholic church in the city, Marienkirche, is easily recognizable by its two huge 65m-high towers. This temple was built in Hof in 1864. Its interior was designed in the Neo-Gothic style: high rounded arches with a ribbed ceiling, colorful stained glass windows of the beginning of the XX century. The real pride is considered to be the local organ (1885). The church regularly hosts concerts of spiritual and secular music.
The giant Marienkirche is located in the heart of the old town. A wide pedestrian street starts from here, leading to the so-called shopping district of Hof. Small shops, shopping centers, cafes and restaurants are on both sides of it. In October, the red carpet of the international film festival called Internationalen Hofer Filmtage is rolled out here, and fairs are organized in summer. In addition, in this street you can find the so-called Hofer Wärschtlamo - street vendors of sausages, who appeared in Hof in 1871. Now the profession is considered a local object of interest. The vendors treat passers-by to hot Viennese sausages and Debrecen sausages with white mustard.
