Plotinka is a name of the city pond weir on River Iset given by residents of Yekaterinburg. Once it was a conventional hydraulic structure which eventually became a meeting place and a promenade for the city people.
Construction of the weir on River Iset started in 1721 by the decision of the investigator and historian Vasily Tatishchev. However, the construction work completed after Tatishchev left these places. The dam water was used to actuate the mechanisms of the Yekaterinburg plant. The major road of Yekaterinburg - Lenin Avenue – passes through Plotinka. There is a pond nearby, which appeared as a result of its construction.
