The Central Park of Culture and Recreation in Yekaterinburg is named after the poet Vladimir Mayakovsky. Building of the park in the bend of the Iset river started in 1934. This was the year when the country celebrated the 40th anniversary of the revolutionary poet, hence the name.
A Planetarium appeared later in the V. Mayakovsky Park of Culture and Recreation, where you can watch the movement of star bodies. A "City of Fairy-Tales" opened in the park in 1991. You can also find here a retro alley and an open-air library. The vast area of the park contains amusement rides and playgrounds for children of all ages.
