The unusually bright and festive Temple of All Religions in the Staroye Arakchino microdistrict in Kazan partly resembles the colorful and non-standard buildings of the great Catalan Antonio Gaudi. They have started building this unusual complex in 1994 and the construction works have been conducted to this day on the donations of patrons from around the world.
The works were supervised by the architect, sculptor and artist Ildar Khanov. According to his plan, the Temple of All Religions also called the Ecumenical Temple is an architectural symbol of the world cultures and civilizations. In the image of the Temple one can easily recognize the features of a Muslim mosque, a synagogue, a Chinese pagoda and an Orthodox church. Totally, elements of 16 religions and those civilizations, that disappeared from the face of the globe long ago, were “hidden” in this ensemble of buildings. The Temple is open only on Sundays when concerts and poetry evenings take place here.
