The “Seversky Blast Furnace” Factory Museum is housed in a building of 1842. Like the other buildings around, it belonged to the Seversky ironworks, and the museum is in fact a historical reconstruction.
The workshops, which can be currently seen at the Seversky Blast Furnace Museum Complex, are a unique example of the mid-XIX century’s industrial architecture. There are no more factory buildings of that era in Russia, which were so well preserved! Here you can learn all about the iron making process in the XIX century. The blast furnace, which the museum in Seversk is dedicated to, was built in 1859. It operated until 1934 and its daily maximum output was 40 tons.
