Nizhny Novgorod Tram and Trolley Museum appeared in Nizhny Novgorod not accidentally. It is believed that the first tram in Russia was launched here in 1896. The museum occupies the building of Nizhny Novgorod depot No.1, where one can see that very first Nizhny Novgorod tramcar of the brand "Oerlikon" as well as eight other trams, which at different times carried passengers around the city.
In addition, two historical trolleybuses are exhibited in the museum. It is curious that unlike tram, trolleybus was launched in Nizhny Novgorod only in the 50s of the XX century, that is, much later than in other major cities of the USSR. Visitors of the museum can sit in the cab of the trolleybus driver, see and twist all the instruments, try what it is like to sit on wooden seats and hold on to all the handles.
