In Novosibirsk, you can visit three unusual museums at once: their exhibitions are distinguished by a unique and caring attitude toward history. Thus, a one-story pine log structure with a stone plinth of the early XX century houses the "Siberian Birch Bark" Museum, opened in 2002. Since 2004, its main fund is located in Sverdlov Street. It exhibits over 400 sculptures, paintings and icons made by hand of birch bark.
An old building in Gorky Street is home to the Siberian House of the Fairy Tale Museum with a collection of birchbark fairytale characters. The museum conducts master classes, teaching to work with a birch bark, embroider and make protective amulet-dolls. In 2009, the building in Gorky Street also housed a Museum of the USSR, displaying a collection of household items and clothing of the Soviet era, from tableware and posters to typewriters, badges and other easily recognizable signs of the time.
