The Museum of Military Glory in Kolomna has its history since 1977. The first exposition was located in the Church of St. Apostles Peter and Pavel. Only in 2010 the collection of exhibits, dedicated to the Kolomna military history from the middle Ages to the 21st century, moved to a new building.
Documents, photographs, weapons and uniforms of the Great Patriotic War, as well as chain armor and bardiche of the era of ancient Russia were collected in the Museum of Military Glory. The most valuable exhibit - a shovel-mortar launcher - is an experimental weapon developed by the Kolomna Engineering Design Bureau. One can dig and shoot with this shovel. A memorial park is located near the Museum of Military Glory. There is a monument to the Unknown Soldier with eternal fire and the heroes’ alley in the park. In one of the corners of the park one can see a beautiful chapel of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, erected in 1892 in memory of the rescue of the prince Nicholas from the attempt in Japan.
