The palace Kichkine was lost among the cypresses of Ai-Todor Cape near Yalta. This modest palace in the oriental style was built in 1913 for Duke Dmitry Romanov. A year earlier he bought a tiny summer cottage Ai-Nikola located on the edge of a steep rock. When a palace was built for him, he called it "Kichkine", which translated from Tatar means "baby". The zest of the palace is a turret resembling a minaret.
Despite its frivolous appearance, the palace Kichkine is one of the best creations on the Crimean peninsula. When the palace was built, a staircase was cut through the rock, leading among the gazebos and secret grottoes to the sea to a small private beach. After the revolution of 1917 Kichkine was not exclusion and was included in the list of the sanatorium fund. Later tourist base was located on its territory. At the beginning of the XXI century the estate was restored and divided into two parts. In one of them the hotel "Kichkine" was opened, and in the other - the museum "Summer residence of Duke Romanov" which everyone can get to.
