Epiphany Staro Golutvin Monastery

Epiphany Staro Golutvin Monastery founded in the XIV century near Kolomna, at the confluence of the Moskva River and the Oka River, by the disciple of St. Sergius of Radonezh, Grigory Golutvinsky. According to a legend, the founder of a number of monasteries, the greatest ascetic of the Russian land, St. Sergius himself sought and found a place for the future monastery in the vicinity of Kolomna. He also took an active part in the construction of the first temple in honor of the Epiphany and pointed out the place of the holy spring to the conventual community.
Today one comes to the Epiphany Staro-Golutvin Monastery to admire the architecture of different epochs, see the main Epiphany temple of the beginning of the XVIII century and its 46-meter bell tower, as well as the gate Vvedensky temple of the XIX century. Once there, it's worth to look into the monastery's refectory, where guests are treated to delicious pies, rugs and tea.
