The Church of Saints Boris and Gleb in Suzdal is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This is one of the most ancient white stone buildings in the Northeast of pre-Mongol Rus! Its history began in 1152, when Prince Yuri Dolgoruky built a one-headed white-stone church in the village of Kideksha in honor of his sons, Boris and Gleb. They reigned in many cities of Ancient Rus: Belgorod, Turov, Kideksha, Kiev, Pereyaslavl and Kursk. Boris is buried in the chapel at this church. His brother Gleb was sent to Kiev like his father, Prince Yuri Dolgoruky.
The Church of Saints Boris and Gleb was part of the estate of Prince Yuri Dolgoruky, who lived in Kideksha for three years. But his house has not survived. Inside the temple, the frescoes of 1176 have been partially preserved. You can also see a fragment of the old floor. In the XIII century the church fell into decay. Here, the fence was renovated, the Holy Gates were installed and a one-story Stefanie Church was built at the end of the 17th century. Here there is also a tent belfry of the 18th century, which leaned so much that the locals call it the "Suzdal Leaning Tower of Pisa".
