The Pancake Hill or Blinka (Blinnaya Gora) is one of the most picturesque places of Sergiyev Posad. This is the best sightseeing platform of the town. It offers breathtaking views of the powerful walls and multicolored domes of the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius.
There was a special Pancake court (Blinniy court) at the site of the Pancake Hill in the XVI century: a number of small taverns where numerous Lavra pilgrims came after prayers. It was here where one could taste delicious Troitsk pancakes, which were baked only in Sergiyev Posad. After the Revolution, the restaurants were closed and the Pancake Hill was turned into a cozy panoramic platform. This is one of the favourite places of the tourists and townspeople themselves, as well as for the wedding corteges coming here for photo sessions. In summer, there are many flowers and souvenir shops on the Pancake Hill.
