Height of the Schlossberg mountain in Pegnitz is 544 m, so the views on the vicinity are wonderful. Not a single stone is left from a formidable castle once upon a time situated on the mountain and called Bohemian, as it belonged to the king of Bohemia (until 1402). It was destroyed in 1553 during a popular uprising. But much later an iron construction was erected here – an observatory tower with views even better than from the hill. Having surmounted 97 stairs you can enjoy them.
The most important town celebrations are often conducted on Schlossberg –children’s Gregoriusfest, Summer Festival and youth festival “Summer Night”.
