A white tower of concrete with a spire «Wind Rose» appeared on Mount Batareika in 1977. Its name was given to the mountain in honor of the artillery battery installed here by the Russian army in the middle of the XIX century.
From a round tower with a height of 21 meters, to which the height of the mountain is added - 146 meters, a panoramic view of Greater Sochi and the Caucasus Mountains opens. Over the years the tower was occupied by a branch of the Sochi Museum of History, and then a café was opened there. In 2012 a private tenant reconstructed the watchtower the nearest to the center of Sochi and changed the details of the interior and exterior of the classical tower.
