The State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia is located in the center of Moscow on Tverskaya Street in the mansion of late classicism of the 18th century. From 1831 to 1919 the building housed the English Club, then until 1998 - the Museum of the Revolution. Today there are over one million exhibits devoted to the history of Russia from the middle of the XIX century to the present in the halls of the museum.
yThe restoration of the mansion, which occupies the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia, has been recently completed. During the works the historical facade and the ancient gate in front of the building were restored. There are many interesting things both for children and adults inside. For example, in the museum one can see a collection of old cameras, look into the working stereoscope, and trace the evolution of telephones and TV sets. The collection of posters, photographs, postcards, paintings and coins is also impressive. It is also interesting to visit costumed excursions, inspect mock-ups of steam locomotives and icebreakers, space suits or see, for example, President Vladimir Putin’s pen, with which he signed the law on the annexation of the Crimea.
