According to some data, Spasskaya Church (the Church of the Savior) is one of the oldest churches in Tyumen, and according to others, it was built only at the beginning of the 17th century. It is only known that a modern baroque stone church was built in 1794.
In 1916 on the initiative of a local merchant, a two-storey northern aisle in a pseudo-Russian style was built to the Church of the Savior. The townspeople came to the church mainly for the worship of the main shrine of the church - the miraculous icon of the Savior Not Made by Hands. But in 1929 a new page in the life history of the church began. First, the hostel was set up in it, and since 1950 - the library. And although the decision to transfer the building to the ROC was made in 1991, it is still held by the archive of the Tyumen Museum of Local Lore.
