The Church of the Holy Family was built in Koenigsberg in 1907. The church was distinguished by a high nave, a massive tower and a neo-Gothic pediment. The interior was thought through in terms of acoustics for better sounding of the organ. At the request of the architect Friedrich Heitmann the church was decorated for baptisms and weddings but never a funeral service. This master was known as the chief architect of the city-garden Amalienau, but he himself believed this church his best work.
During the war the Church of the Holy Family was turned into a hospital. During the Soviet era the building was occupied by a warehouse. In 1980 after the restoration the building of the church was occupied by the Kaliningrad Regional Philharmonic. The final touch was the installation of an organ from the Czech Republic here. The capacity of the hall is 400 people, the amphitheater was placed in the altar part. Since 1990 the church has become the main venue of the International Festival of Organ Music.
