The Catholic Church of the Blessed Virgin is a striking architectural masterpiece of Vladivostok. The building in the East European Gothic style was built for 22 years beginning in 1908.
The Catholic Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary took the first parishioners in 1921. In 1935 the church was closed, and the building was radically rebuilt for the needs of the city archive: it was divided by additional floors, the mosaic panels, unique stained-glass windows and stucco molding were destroyed. The original interior of the temple was restored only at the end of the twentieth century. Now the temple is famous for its unique architecture, unusual stained-glass windows as well as regular and magnificent organ concerts.
