The church of Ioann Zlatoust is the first stone structure in Yalta and the first Yalta temple. It does not look like most of the Orthodox churches, since its three-tiered bell-shaped church strongly resembles Gothic structures. At the same time, it is included in all international maps of the Black Sea as a guide for ships.
It is curious that the next day after the consecration of the church of Ioann Zlatoust which happened on September 16, 1837 Yalta was given the status of a city. During the Soviet power the church was closed and turned into a grocery store. And in 1942 it burnt. Only in 1999 the church on Polikurovsky Hill was completely restored and opened to the parishioners.
