A water tower, erected by an outstanding Soviet scientist V.G. Shukhov in 1935 upon a typical project, has become one of the monuments of Soviet constructivism in Krasnodar along with the building of the Cinema "Avrora". Its "big sister" is the Shabolovka Broadcasting Tower in Moscow. Just some ten constructions by a famous engineer have currently been preserved in the world.
The Shukhov steel water tower provided Krasnodar with water for many years. But in the 1990s, the water tank was dismantled and advertising structures were built instead. In 2012, buildings of the "Gallery Krasnodar" shopping center were erected around the tower, and a metal monument of architecture became an adornment of the inner courtyard. There are benches and trees in tubs in its territory, and nearby you can see cafes and restaurants. The tower backlighting turns on at night.
