Brick gothic Rossgarten gate with decorative octagonal towers replaced in 1855 the gate of the beginning of the XVII century. Once it was the outskirts of Koenigsberg where the fields began and the horses grazed. According to legend, on the way from Russia to Germany Baron Munchhausen stayed here to drink beer.
From the city side Rossgarten gate is decorated with images of famous Prussian generals. It is known that initially the gate was surrounded by a moat. After the reconstruction in the 1990s a fish restaurant opened at the gate, which uses a lifting bridge like a summer veranda. And the roof was turned into a viewing platform.
