The spectacular and beautiful Rio-de-Kavkaz temple complex appeared on the outskirts of Yessentuki on the Borgustanskoye highway not so long ago. People come here to see the highest statue of Christ the Savior in Russia. Its height is 22 meters! The temple complex Rio-de-Kavkaz was built solely at private expense. The well-groomed territory contains a Big Temple of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, surrounded by three churches: the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin, the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity and the Church of Elijah the Prophet. All of them are built in the Russian-Byzantine style.
The first thing that catches the visitors’ eye is the alley of Greek philosophers and scientists. The statue of Christ the Savior, which dominates over the entire territory of the Rio-de-Kavkaz temple complex, is located on a hill. There is a small chapel of the Resurrection at its foot. You can have a long walk through the paths of the temple complex, viewing different compositions on biblical themes: figures of lambs and baby goats, statues of winged angels and the Nativity scene. There is a mini zoo for small visitors, where camels, yaks, ponies, fluffy rabbits and haughty turkeys live. The temple complex is open every day, with free entrance. The main peak of the Caucasus, Mount Elbrus, is visible from here in good weather.
