Pushkin Street is one of the oldest and most beautiful in Simferopol. This pedestrian street, paved with multicolored tiles, with beautiful lamps and mansions, looks very attractive today. In 1854, a shelter-care facility for girls, the first in Taurida Governorate, was opened at the Sennoy market, so the street, laid in 1869, was first named Priyutinskaya. And in 1899 it was decided to rename the street on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of A.S. Pushkin. The monument to the poet in front of the Drama Theater appeared only in 1967.
In the XIX - early XX century Pushkin Street was built up with beautiful mansions and revenue houses, many of which have survived to this day and form the image of old Simferopol. Merchant Semerdjiev’s House № 7 is decorated with an elegant medallion, and the inscription "Photography" is factual: like 130 years ago, there are a photostudio and shops in the house. A marriage registration hall is currently arranged in the house № 14. Once there lived the family of philanthropist Franz Schneider, and Fyodor Shalyapin performed on the stage before the noble citizens. Almost every house on Pushkin Street is decorated with memorial plaques that "tell" about the whole history of Simferopol: the Civil War, the occupation of the Crimea, the restoration, tour of the great artists and the activity of the Taurida University. Numerous cafes, live music and beautiful lights create a pleasant atmosphere here in the evenings.
