Founded in 1947, the Novosibirsk Zoo annually hosts over a million visitors. Therefore, it is deservedly considered one of the most popular in Russia. Representatives of the cat and marten families are a special pride of the Zoo. In 2004, the Bengal tigress and African lion gave birth to ligress Zita-Gita in Novosibirsk. But the Zoo became more famous in 2012, when Zita and the lion Samson gave birth to the world’s first liliger Kiara.
The Novosibirsk Zoo can also boast of the captive-born polar bears. Despite the remoteness from the oceans and tropics, dolphins, penguins and tropical animals are also safely managed here.
