The collection of the Museum of Military Glory started to be generated back in the days of the Great Patriotic War. But officially the museum was founded only in 1981, on the 40th anniversary of one of the Yaroslavl divisions that took part in the Great Patriotic War. In the postwar period, the collection was replenished with finds from the expeditions that took place in the battlefields where Yaroslavl soldiers fought.
The "Winners!" is the largest exposition of the Museum of Military Glory, which is dedicated to Yaroslavl front-line soldiers and displays their personal belongings. Among the glorified names are: Marshal Fyodor Tolbukhin (here you can see his jacket and cap), General Pavel Batov, double Hero of the Soviet Union, who gave the army 70 years of his life, Sofya Avericheva, the actress of the Yaroslavl Drama Theater and owner of 18 military awards. The names of famous soldiers of different epochs, whose life was connected with Yaroslavl, in particular, Prince Alexander Nevsky and Admiral Fyodor Ushakov, are crowned with immortality in the Alley of Military Commanders. The museum also houses the military equipment that went through baptism of fire during the Soviet period. These are: an anti-aircraft gun from the armored launch that was manufactured at the local shipyard, a submachine gun designed by Shpagin, an armored fighting vehicle, a T-54 tank and a pilotless plane.
