V. Shpakovskiy Museum of Local History in Yessentuki is located not far from the Theater Square and the Concert Hall of Chaliapin. The ancient mansion, built in the late XIX century, once belonged to the local priest. The museum exposition occupies five rooms on the second floor. Despite its compact size, the museum stores lots of information detailing the stages of development of the resort city.
The Museum of Local History exhibits, in particular, the flora and fauna of Pyatigorye. The paleontological and geological exhibitions present the origin of local healing water. Other items on display: ancient photographs, paintings, weapons and household items tell about the Cossack roots and customs of the founders of Yessentuki. A separate exhibition is devoted to the development of medicine and balneology in Yessentuki. A free excursion starts in the museum every day at 3 pm. You can get on it having an entrance ticket.
