Gatchina is the birthplace of Russian military aviation. Therefore, a Museum of History of Aviation Engine-Building and Repair was created in the town on the basis of the Aircraft Repair Plant. Sixteen full-scale models of aircraft engines are its main exhibits. They are made on the basis of real engines produced by design bureaus in the territory of the former USSR.
Each model of an aircraft engine in the museum is equipped with a press wall with data on the history of creation, biographies of designers and mini-models of aircrafts with these engines. A separate exhibition is devoted to the work of aircraft repair plants. Visitors to the Museum of History of Aviation Engine-Building and Repair can learn more about the daily work of pilots through trying on flying helmets and sitting in the ejector seat.
