The Monument to the Wives of the Decembrists in Tobolsk is dedicated to eleven women who followed the Siberian exile for their husbands. They lost all their titles and fortunes after the uprising on the Senate Square in St. Petersburg on December 14, 1825.
Many participants in the riot were sent to penal servitude by court order. The total of 17 Decembrists found themselves in the convict penal settlement in Tobolsk. A monument to the heroic women, who did not want to leave their husbands and shared with them all the hardships of exile, was established in Tobolsk in 2008. The authors of the composition were sculptors from Perm. Rotunda with a bronze figure of a woman in a dress of the XIX century recalls the deeds of the wives of the Decembrists.
