On a walk along the Korabelnaya Embankment of Vladivostok one should pay attention to the Memorial Ship Krasny Vympel. This yacht was built before the revolution and later was converted into a patrol ship. There are only five such museum ships in Russia. On a vessel for a small fee people are allowed to take a walk along the upper deck. The neighboring ships and the sea are perfectly visible from here.
In 1910 the sailing-steam vessel "Admiral Zavoiko", ordered for city officials, arrived in Vladivostok to the place of service. In 13 years "Admiral" was given new duties and a new name – Krasny Vympel. Its crew defended the coast of Vladivostok from poachers, accompanied scientific expeditions, and with the beginning of the Great Patriotic War helped in carrying out the most dangerous military operations. Almost 60 years ago the Krasny Vympel stood on an eternal anchor in a city with which it was closely connected throughout its long and faithful service to the fatherland.
