Massandra Palace is located on the east of Yalta, in the village Massandra. Its construction lasted from 1881 to 1902. During this time the architects as well as the owners of the building managed to change. The works were started by Count Vorontsov. After his death the palace was bought by the imperial family. Emperor Alexander III and then his son Nicholas II did not often visit the palace, because even after the completion of the construction, it was not suitable for life: the interior decoration appeared only in 1921. But the imperial family loved to walk and make picnics in the wonderful park at the palace.
In Massandra Palace one can see a mixture of different styles and historical periods: turrets and chimneys resembling minarets, bright yellowness of finishing tiles and restraint of classical balconies. This mansion was conceived as a place for rest, therefore it was reliably hidden in the bowels of the park, where in addition to the traditional Crimean cypress and juniper, exotic trees were planted - olives, lemons and oranges. During the Soviet era a sanatorium was located in the palace, then the institution of winemaking, and later a government dacha. Today the Massandra Palace and the park are open for visitors - the museum houses an exposition dedicated to the life of the imperial family.
