The beautiful complex of Main Narzan Baths, reminiscent of an ancient Indian temple, was presented to Kislovodsk for its centenary celebration. The author of the project in 1901 was the architect A. Klepinin: his task was to create not only a health institution, but also a beautiful building for the city. After two years of work, a magnificent and luxurious two-storeyed building of baths in oriental style, decorated with stucco molding, appeared in the Kurortny Boulevard.
The place for the building of Narzan Baths was chosen not accidentally: it is here, in the center of Kislovodsk, where there are springs of useful narzan water. The baths were called main because there were also Skalkovsky’s baths in the city by that time, however, its building was not so magnificent as that of the Narzan Baths. The first floor of the new complex contained baths and places for taking narzan, and the second floor was given for hydrotherapeutic procedures. The Main Narzan Baths quickly became the landmark of Kislovodsk and the favorite place of vacationers.
