You can see a picturesque Lermontov Waterfall three kilometers from Kislovodsk on the Olkhovka River. It is located away from the main tourist routes, among the private houses. This waterfall is said to be described in «A Hero of Our Time» by Russian poet Mikhail Lermontov: the main character of the novel, Pechorin, is believed to have stopped near it to water his horse.

Lermontov Waterfall is an integral part of the local landscape. In the late XIX — early XX century, it was a source of drinking water for Kislovodsk. You better visit the waterfall in summer, in bright sunshine, when its jets, falling from a height of 3 meters, are particularly transparent, and hitting the ground, paint the air with millions of sparkling sprays.
