Kurortny Prospect is the longest street in Sochi. For ten kilometers it stretches along the sea from the Matsesta River and ends behind the pedestrian Plane-tree Alley. The street was built over a century ago in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov Dynasty. In 1970 "singing fountains" appeared on the avenue with light and music accompaniment.
Kurortny Prospekt connected the Central and Khostinsky districts in 1936. The original name - Stalinsky Prospekt - was renamed in 1957. The buildings of the City Assembly, the Sochi Art Museum and the Circus are located at the Kurortny Prospekt. It also divides the Sochi arboretum into two parts. The largest health resorts and boarding houses are located along Kurortny Prospekt. By the Olympic Games in 2014 Kurortny Prospekt was unloaded a little, and a freeway in the Central district was built.
