Irtysh Embankment is one of the most popular walking places for residents and visitors of Omsk. The excited atmosphere reigning here on most days is explained by the fact, among others, that Omsk’s City Registry is located on the embankment. After the ceremony, many newlyweds go to the street to take spectacular wedding photos on the background of brilliant waves of the Irtysh. The celebrations building is located in the former mansion of merchant K.N. Batushkin. This elegant building was built in the early XX century and a steam heating system, an advanced solution for the time, was immediately installed in it.
The second name of the merchant’s house is Kolchak’s House, connected with the fact that the residence of famous Admiral Kolchak was there from the end of December 1918 to November 1919. The building was seriously damaged in the failed attempted assassination of Kolchak, but was later restored. The beautiful mansion also houses a small museum about the history of Omsk and the life of Alexander Kolchak.
