The Holy Trinity Church is located in the heart of old Simferopol, on Odesskaya Street and belongs today to a convent. The temple has been built on the site of a wooden Greek church, which was erected here in 1796. Previously, this street was called Grecheskaya, as Greeks had been living in this area for a long time. Even in the 30-ies of the twentieth century, many parishioners of the temple had Greek citizenship. Now here, next to the Convent, you can see several columns covered with tiles - this is all that has remained of the Greek shopping arcades.
In 1868, a stone Holy Trinity Church was built instead of a small temple. The most famous abbot of the church was Luke Archbishop of the Crimea (Valentin Felixovich Voino-Yasenetsky), who was a Professor of Medicine in the world. Now he is consecrated a saint. His relics are kept in the Convent. Here there is also a unique icon of The Lamenting Virgin. This image, completely dim, was brought to the temple by a parishioner, and a few weeks later it was noticed that the icon has become lucid and gained a light.
