Georgiyevskaya Street of Vladimir with its one-story wooden and two-story brick houses seems to be frozen in time. Existing since the XVII century, now it is a pedestrian street. The atmosphere of the old days is preserved thanks to the restoration in the 1980s, when the street was again paved with cobblestones and old lanterns were installed. The street was named in honor of St. George Church, built under Yuri Dolgoruky in the XII century. The modern Baroque church building was erected at the end of the 18th century after the fire.
The pedestrian part of the Georgiyevskaya Street is decorated with bronze sculptures by Igor Chernoglazov. A detective hides behind the billboard, opposite, a mischievous boy sat down for a moment. The apothecary stands in front of the building, where in 1805 the oldest state-owned drugstore was opened, and now the Borodins' smithy is located. The citizens have a belief: if one rubs the nose and bald head of the apothecary - he will be healthy. The city's first and still operating fire department and a monument to the fireman in front of it are located nearby. In summer one can use a hand pump to feed water into the hose. The Georgiyevskaya Street ends with a viewing platform, from which one can see the Assumption Cathedral. "An artist with an easel", set here in 2015, «sketches» a beautiful view. On weekends an antique bazaar works near the secondhand bookstore on the Georgiyevskaya Street, and on holidays concerts and performances are held here.
