Fort No. 11 in the defensive ring of the walls of Koenigsberg was built in 1882. First it was called "Seligenfeld", and in 10 years was renamed in honor of the aristocratic family von Denkhoff. The task of the fort was to cover the railway towards Insterburg, but during the assault on Koenigsberg the fort surrounded by water could resist only for a day. In the postwar period its premises were used to store trophy weapons.
In 2014, Fort No. 11 passed from under the control of the Ministry of Defense to a private management company. The latter repaired the structure and pumped the water out of it. In the course of the works a unique 150-year-old lift was found here for lifting shells and other original mechanisms that tourists can now see. In addition to excursions, fishing and competitions in archery are held in the fort now. In the near future they are going to organize here a workshop of Prussian crafts, a military museum, and to arrange attractions.
