The famous peninsula, named after James de Vries - an Englishman, an entrepreneur who lived in Vladivostok for about 15 years, is located in the Amur Bay. The peninsula is full of mysteries and legends. The most famous is that the daughter of de Vries drowned, rushing into the sea because of an unrequited love. The inconsolable father buried her on the island, hiding most of his property in the grave. He planted an alley of love on the peninsula. By the way, one can see it today as well.
Vladivostok local historians call similar legends about the De-Friz Peninsula romantic fiction. The following are among the reliable facts about the peninsula: the Novogeorgievsky estate housed here in the Soviet times, considered a very lucrative economy, and children rested in the pioneer camp "Kosmos" year-round. Now people come to De-Friz to enjoy the magnificent views of the Amur Bay, and also because of the unusual climatic phenomenon, due to which there are always more sunny days on the peninsula than in Vladivostok.
