Sochi Art Museum was opened in 1976 in the famous "House of the Authorized" by architect Zholtovsky. The building is located in a park area. Nearby there are various sculptures next to which tourists like to take photos.
The Sochi Art Museum is known for its collection of works by famous Russian artists of the turn of the XIX-XX centuries: Aivazovsky, Shishkin, Polenov, Serov, Kustodiev, Petrov-Vodkin and Konchalovsky. In addition to this, Russian icons of the XVIII-XX centuries, objects of arts and crafts of the Xth century are constantly exhibited here. There is also a mock-up with construction objects for the 2014 Olympics. Families with children will be interested in the hall with interactive exhibits. In particular, in this room one can visit the pictures of famous artists. And connoisseurs of history should take a look at the exposition, the items of which were discovered in 1997 near the Mzymta River in the Adler district near Sochi. There was discovered a treasure: silver jewelry, weapons and ritual objects of Greek and Sarmatian origin of II-I centuries AD. All this is stored in the museum.
