The Amber Lock Museum Exhibition Complex is located in the village of Yantarny, 50 kilometers north-west of Kaliningrad. It is in this place that nearly 90 percent of the world's amber reserves are concentrated! Here is the only industrial complex in the world for its industrial production. In the museum complex "Amber Castle", which occupies part of the preserved fortress "Palmnicken", one can learn about the origin of amber, its properties and ways of processing.
In addition to the historical exhibition, the Amber Castle houses an extensive collection of amber products, including a pyramid which is as high as a man. Inside it one can sit to experience the healing properties of amber gum. In the basement of the Amber Castle there are instruments of torture applied to those who engaged in illegal amber mining. On the second floor of the complex one can look into the museum of the "Russian Fairy Tale", the castle museum of East Prussia and see the exposition devoted to the history of the Amber settlement in the Prussian and Soviet periods.
