Starnberg Lake Museum is the oldest local history museum in Bavaria. It has been functioning since the beginning of the 20th century. Initially it was opened in the former 17th century farm house, with its furniture becoming the first exposition. Today there are several thematic exhibitions in the new building: navigation, including during monarchy, life of peasants living at the lake shores, life of local aristocrats.
Museum “treasures” include 17th century religious art, canvases and engravings of local artists, ship models, sailor suits and items from “Maximilian” ship that belonged to the Wittelsbach dynasty.
