Rococo style St. Josef church standing on the upland is the first thing you’ll see approaching Starnberg. The one-nave church was built in the 18th century with participation of the local great masters. The altar with the images of Christ, Virgin Mary and Josef was made by the Bavarian sculptor and engraver Ignaz Günther, walls were decorated by Franz Xaver Feuchtmeie, while ceilings – by Christian Wink, whose works can be seen at the Vienna Belvedere. Side altars in neobaroque style with images of St. Peter and St. Sebastian were made in the mid-19th century.
