Shterrenberg and Liebenstein Castles are located 15kilometers south of Braubach, in Kamp-Bornhofen. The castles are separated by awall. They are called the "warring brothers" because of the romanticlegend about two brothers, heirs of Count von Boland, who dueled for a girl.The legend, known since the XVI century, became the basis for the poem "TheTwo Brothers” by Heinrich Heine in the XIX century.
Shterrenberg - one of the oldest castles of theRhine- was built in 1190, but fell into ruins already in the XVI century. In1960 it was partially rebuilt in the Gothic style. Liebenstein appeared at theend of the XIII century. People come here to enjoy the restaurants located inthe castle and terraces that offer wonderful views of the Rhine.
