Composer RobertSchumann was born in Zwickauon June 8, 1810, in a corner house at the Hauptmarkt square. He spent his childhoodand youth in this city, and left it, having entered the University of Leipzig.In 1955 the city authorities arranged a museum in his house. The main asset ofthe exhibition is four thousand manuscripts of Schumann, including his correspondencewith his wife, Clara Schumann (née Clara Wieck).
The atmosphere in Schumann’s house corresponds to the time in which thecomposer lived and worked: the furniture, interior details, such as wall clocksand sculptures, busts of great thinkers and musicians fill up the atmosphere. Alot of household items of both Robert Schumann and his family members (by theway, the composer had 8 children) have been preserved here. The chamber hall ofthe memorial house regularly hosts music concerts, which you can attend bytickets.
