Visiting Oberammergau museum is the ideal way to get acquainted with all types of crafts characteristic for this little town. It was open in 1910 to collect in one place and present to the public fantastic works of local craftsmen – wood engravers.
On the first floor of the museum there is an exhibition of wooden and cardboard engraved cribs, on the second – other items from wood: soldiers, nativity caves, toys, carved altars and other religious attributes. A separate exhibition is dedicated to “The Passion of Christ” staged by the local theatre. Here you can see costumes and sets. In the museum you can also watch a mini film dedicated to the life in this village in the mid-20th century.
