LWL Freilichtmuseum, Germany's largest open-air museum, is located on the southern outskirts of the city. Various historical buildings, brought here from all over Lippe and carefully restored, found their place on its territory of over 100 ha. Besdies farms and houses, there are pottery and blacksmith workshops, a water mill, a school, shops and gardens here. Historical crafts are regularly put on display for visitors. Kinestetik learners will probably love the house in which it is allowed to lie on a canopy bed and try the principles of operation of the old churn in practice. There are several cafes on the museum‘s territory, where guests are offerred dishes of the Westphalian cuisine in an authentic setting.
