Museum of Lüneburg opened its doors to the visitors in 2015. Around 11 million euros were spent on its establishment. Now it unites under one roof the museum of Lüneburg, museum of natural history and museum of archeology. There is a total of 1300 exhibits here, starting from the Ice Age to the 21st century. All expositions highlight the role of the man in transformation of the environment. Historical collections follow the development of human activity from the tools of primitive men to modern art. Halls dedicated to natural history exhibit local zoological, botanical and geological artifacts. The collection of town archeology is focused on the achievements of the town in the 15th-16th centuries. A wonderful view on the town and river Ilmenau is opened from the large café terrace.
