In the XV century the Cathedral of Our Lady in Constance hosted the Ecumenical Church Council, during which ideologist of the Czech Reformation Jan Hus was sentenced to be burned at the stake for heresy. Today, the temple is considered to be an important stop for pilgrims traveling to Santiago de Compostela. More than a thousand years, the Cathedral served as the throne for Constance bishops. The prototype of the church appeared at this place back in the VII century. Later the church was completed in the Romanesque style. Now it is a three-aisled basilica, surrounded by Gothic and Neo-Gothic additions.
The original interiors have survived in part. In general, the church decoration (stucco, stained-glass windows, statues of saints, wrought iron gates, wheel-windows with individual design) is made in the Baroque, Classical, Gothic styles. Before entering the temple, it is important to pay attention to the glass dome under which the remains of the ancient Roman camp were preserved. s.
