Since 1936, the Imperial City Museum has been located in the former building of the XIII century Dominican monastery. One can find out how the nuns lived touring the living rooms and the kitchen - the only well-preserved kitchen of the XIII century. The city’s artistic heritage is represented by panels with the passion of Christ by Martinus Schwartz created at the end of the XV century and the collection of paintings of the early XX century by painter Arthur Wasse. A separate floor houses a collection of European weapons of the period from the Stone Age to the XIX century, including the hunting rifles of Empress Marie Antoinette and Frederick the Great.
